I suck, you suck, we all suck, but those that suck me don't suck as much.
I'm sorry about your freind. I've had a few freinds who have gotten surgery for it, and their spines are unaligned again. I can't imagine the pain they must have went through.
Hmm... I'm loving, loving, loving the concept, and your execution, as usual is fabulous, but...something about the colour scheme is bothering me. I think my greedy little heart wants it to be darker, given the visceral nature of the imagery...maybe not the entire piece, but the background? I'll have to think on it a bit more...
It's hard to say...I'd hate to compromise your vision with a crappy suggestion . Now I'm forced to re-evaluate what I get from it, and what (I suspect) your intention behind it is. I'm running now on the assumption that you're seeking to represent internal forces that are working against the subject...when I think about that in depth, it seems that a change to the background might actually be more harmful than beneficial, if it were to draw focus away from the internal to the external...although...a slightly more oppressive background could (in theory) also emphasize the horror of internal mutiny...
Damn, that is disturbing. I know how that feels though... It rips us humans apart to be too cautious... Wonderful concept.... I am completely amazed & impressed...
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

I see what you mean. More could be done with the backround.
What do you suggest?
Now I don't know what to think.....
